A very short Korea

I'll travelling from Japan back to the UK in May, stopping in Seoul for 2 nights/1.5 days. It's not much time and I don't want to rush around, but would like to see a couple of interesting features. Where should I stay? What shouldn't I miss? [more inside]

Weird and wonderful Seoul~

I’ll be traveling to Seoul, SK in three days to visit my brother and attend his PhD graduation (yay!). There will be plenty of sight-seeing of tourist spots with family, but will want some solo time to do my own thing. What are some fun things that are on the weirder side, or queer-friendly? Layover in Seoul, access to checked luggage?

I have a ten hour layover in Seoul tomorrow, and I am wondering if there is a way to get access to my checked luggage. I am also curious about day tours, especially the free tours Asiana offers. Haven't been able to find much info online. [more inside]

How to get from Seoul to Jinju Lantern Festival?

We'll be visiting Seoul next week, and are keen to get out to the Jinju Lantern festival as it looks amazing. Getting there, however, seems like a royal PITA, with googlemaps telling me 5 hours minumum each way, trains and busses. We can't speak Korean past a few words and don't read Hangol. Do you think this is doable for two tourists with limited to nonexistent language skills, or too much? [more inside]

I'm visiting Seoul next month -- can you give me some advice?

My wife and I are visiting Seoul for the first time next month, and I'm hoping some experienced visitors can help me with some logistical questions. Specifically, Google isn't being super helpful with transit into and around the city, and wireless connectivity. We will have two Verizon iPhones that I'd like to be able to connect while we're out and about (our hotel has free wifi), and it looks like renting a mobile hotspot at the airport will accomplish that. Is there a better option I should look into? A complicating factor is that our plane arrives at about 4:00am local time, but it appears we can get the hotspot delivered to our hotel. Is there normal transportation into the city available at that time of day? We will be making our way to Jamsil-dong, near the Sports Complex subway stop. Once in the city, is there any kind of unlimited ride pass for transit, or will we be stuck reloading cards the whole time?

Hotel, trip length, and transportation in Seoul

I'm going to Korea for the first time. It'll be a very short trip because I'm just attending/presenting at a conference at Yonsei University. I need help figuring out a reasonable trip length, a place to stay, and which of the many airport-city transportation choices is best. And uh, some other stuff. [more inside]

I'll be in Seoul for about 11 hours, what to do?

Hey! I have a long layover in Seoul (landing at Incheon, 5:20AM, departing, 4:30PM, about 11 hours) this Thursday, June 27th. Is it reasonable to head into the city (or somewhere) for food or drink or other amusement in this short span? Can you suggest a micro-itinerary that seems fun to you? I'm also interested in other options, including walking around the city with MeFites.

Romantic Seoul: Help me find a date spot in the Special City

I'm somewhat new to Korea and don't know much about the landscape of Seoul, but I'm taking a native Seoulite out to dinner on Tuesday night. What's a good date place in Seoul for a quiet dinner? The cuisine can be from any corner of the world, though I'd prefer if it were in the Hongdae or Sinchon corners of Seoul. That said, anything interesting would be appreciated. Thanks.

Seoul advice other than food

I'm going to be in Seoul next week with my husband and my parents. My parents are Korean and will probably take the helm for showing us around and feeding us, but I'd like some suggestions for things that they wouldn't necessarily now much about, mainly: nightlife and shopping. [more inside]

Shopping/eating suggestions for Seoul?

Going to Seoul next month on business, and I was looking for specific recommendations for shopping and dining. Specifically, I plan to purchase (maybe) electronics, cigars, and clothing, and by clothing I mean custom tailored suits and dress shirts. For food, I would prefer authentic Korean; might as well eat like the locals while I'm there. I've heard about the Yongsan Electronics market and the Coex mall, and I plan to visit them, but does anyone have any specific shops, locations, or restaurants to recommend? Anything in the Itaewon/Myeong-Dong/Hongdae area is preferred, but anything in Seoul will OK.
