The movie that got it's plot "stolen" by SPEED writers :)

I can't recall the name of this "SPEED"-like Japanese movie.

Actually it's a movie of the '80 , and it's like "SPEED", a bomb was set to explode if the speed goes under a certain limit, but instead of a Bus, in the Japanese version it's a Train.

Any ideas?

I loved that movie, hmm it's in the '70, I've seen it in the '80 though.

The question has already been answered, so my comment is slightly off-topic, but note that the version you remember may have been fairly different than the original: the USA release was 115 minutes long, but the Japanese original was 152 minutes.

This is not Japanese and so not what you were thinking of but there are certainly seeds of the movie idea for Speed (and possibly a bit of parody of Bullet Train/Shinkansen Daibukuha) in The Big Bus.

I seem to recall that the (big) bus couldn't go below a certain speed or it would explode.

Anyway bugbread, dunno about the American version but I watched the Japanese version with french subtitles. And it was great :)

I'll start looking for it in some good movie trackers :)
