Are there really no good gay bars in Boulder, CO?

One of my best friends just moved out to Boulder for graduate school, and the last time I spoke to him he complained that there was only one gay bar in the whole town. Now, I don't really believe that, considering what I've heard of Boulder, but he couldn't find any info online. He's recently out and looking for a good place to have fun and meet people. Any suggestions?

I'm not in Boulder, but why would that be so surprising? It's a small city, it's liberal but more in a hippy-folk songy kind of way than in a specifically gay friendly hipsterish kind of way, and there's Denver right nearby, where there's probably more going on...

I dunno, I'd bet folks at the one gay bar in town that he's been to would know if there were others. My cousins are from Boulder and it seems plausible to me - it comes off as hippy dippy in a sort of naive and old-fashioned kind of way. It ain't where Stonewall would take place.

Perhaps the local gays go to Denver? I'm sure I would, if I lived there.

There is a bookshop in Boulder called Word is Out located at:

2015 10th Street
Boulder, Colorado 80302

One block west of
the Pearl Street Mall
in downtown Boulder

This is GLBT bookshop and will best know the answer to this question.

I don't know of any, although I joke that the Trilogy lounge is a gay bar. I don't actually think it is.

My sociology professor always talked about a few specific bars in Denver, but I don't know the names. I think there's quite a few.
