Japanese A/C Unit - Translate Buttons, Please!

I was given a window swamp cooler unit that was born in Japan (I think).

The front console and the IR remote are both in Kanji (pretty sure). I can't read it, and I'd like to use the cooler to its full potential. Please to translate?

IR Remote Photo

Front Console Photo

The top right button on the remote is power, and the arrows at the bottom are obviously up/down, I think for degrees celsius, which is displayed in the green LED array on the console.

Also, the two buttons on the lower right of the console seem to be up/down.

I've Googled like crazy on what little English/Arabic numbering I could find, but I've been fruitless. Help!

Domo arrigato!

Best answer: well at least the thing with the clock on the remote says "oyasumi taimaa" which literally means vacation timer but more likely, sleep timer.

too many kanji i cant read without my nelsons here. i'm lame.

Best answer: IR remote photo:

top left: 'change function' -- i.e. from 'heating' to 'cooling' to 'fan'

top right: start/stop

middle left: change amount of wind (wind speed/strength?)

middle right: sleep timer

At bottom is 'set timer'; just above the arrows, at left and right respectively, are 'go back' and 'go forward,' (in time, I presume). At bottom left is 'when it's cold'; at bottom right is 'when it's hot.' So presumably you use the arrows to both change the time setting and to change the temperature.

Front console photo:

At top left is 'fan strength': choices from top to bottom are 'automatic,' 'strong,' 'weak.'

Middle left is 'operation mode': choices from top to bottom are 'automatic,' 'cool,' 'dry,' 'ventilate.'

Bottom left is 'rest.'

Above the LED display is 'temperature' (left) and 'time' (right).

The next thing down is 'start/stop.'

Next is 'when it's hot' (left) and 'when it's cold' (right).

Response by poster: Thank you Jeanne! This thing makes far more sense now.

Thanks to Joe as well for the best effort.

Best answer: Remote: top-left, operation change, I would guess that it cycles through Automatic, A/C, Dry, and Ventilation. top-right, power. bottom-left, fan speed. bottom-right, sleep-timer. The up/down buttons are down/warm time/back and up/cool time/proceed. They probably do different things depending on which mode your in.

Console: top-left, fan speed, from top to bottom Automatic, Strong, Weak. bottom-left, operation mode, Automatic, A/C, dorai (Dry? maybe de-humidify), and Ventilation. The little button on the bottom left is the sleep timer. In the main console part, the two left characters are Temperature, the two right characters are Time. Then the Power button, and the Warm/Cool time buttons.

On Preview: Bah! beaten to the punch. But I'm happy to have gotten close. :)
