Needed: Piano teacher in Ho Chi Minh City

Moving to HCMC for a bit. I need a piano teacher for my 8yr old. Or if no teacher at least somewhere for him to practise. Any ideas? Anybody even know where the music stores are?

I would be suprised is anyone here can advise you directly but of course you never know.

My first response would be to wait until you are there and then ask/make some calls, particularly to the ESL schools like British Council. I really doubt you will have any problem finding a teacher or a piano.

But you could go to VNExpat and submit a question under 'job offers'.

Or you could write to the HCM Conservatory of Music for their advice.

Off topic:
I was just in HCMC a few weeks ago for a vacation, but unfortunately not long enough to know what you need. It's a striking place though - I hope you blog about it.

You could try asking at the HCM City Conservatory of Music, 112 Nguyen Du St, Dist 1, t. 8 8225841.

Or some of the international schools might be able to help:
International School Ho Chi Minh City, 649A Vo Truong Toan, An Phu, Dist 2, t. 8 898 9100 e. ishcmc@hcm.vnn.vn;
or Saigon South International School, Saigon South Parkway, Tan Phong Ward, Dist 7, t. 8 413 0901, e. ssischool@hcm.vnn.vn.

FWIW Dist 1 and 2 are in the centre of town, Dist 7, not.

Also, when I was there, shops selling western food had loads of notices for expat social clubs - you could find out from other expats where they get piano lessons for the kids, I'm sure.
