Who is the designer of this logo?

My google skills are not helping me to find the creator of this logo(not the reston bit). I remember it from my childhood and I believe that there are different versions for different sports, and it is probably related to Olympics, but yet I couldn't find it.

Best answer: Otl Aicher (text in Russian) is a graphic designer (text in German) who designed iconography for the 1972 Munich Olympics.

Yeah, I remember touring the Munich Olympic campus many years ago and how they were proud to have been the first Games that used those elegant icons.

Alas, I also remember the Olympic facility being devoid of life -- ala Wigsphere/Knoxville in that Simpsons episode. And unfortunately this month's World Cup games in Munich aren't being held there, but at a new stadium instead. However, it may just have been a slow day when I was there (25 years ago) ...
