Descriptions of 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake

Are there any descriptions of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake specifically? Not the tsunami but the earthquake itself. Was it felt on land and did it do any damage prior to the tsunami?

One problem with human reports might be "GPS data from the Andamans are scarce because most of the region is off-limits to visitors and especially to foreigners.", from the third article.
