Slacklining for kids: how important is it to have a second/top line?

I see that most parents introducing their kids to slackline add an auxiliary top line for arms to hold on to. How important is this?

My kid is 8 years old.

I do have a kit including the top line (and the leash that goes over it to hold on to with ones hands) but it's a little difficult to install with my setup so I'd like to avoid it if not necessary.

But I don't want to set my kid up for frustration or giving up quickly because the first experience was too difficult. So, based on this, how important is it to have this top line set up when I first introduce him to slacklining?

Neither he nor I have any knowledge or experience of slacklining.

i think you need/want the top line to avoid the frustration. for sure. hard to even get on there without in my (admittedly not super extensive) experience

If the top line only stops one bad fall, it will be worth it, I promise.
