Xbox/360/PC(?) Survival Game 2005-2008?

2005-2008-ish 3D game (bright somewhat cartoony and stylized) on Xbox/Xbox360 (maybe PC?) about building bases being overrun by zombie-like things? Something to do with a day/night cycle, perhaps? When Sunset Overdrive came out I thought that was it, and took a long time, but that was not even close to the game. 2017, Fortnite rolls out with a Survival mode in addition to the more famous Battle Royale, that doesn't look right.

The setting was more urban in style; the size/scope is far smaller than this survival mode. That's another reason I feel may have been 360.

Have there been similar "build a fort out of scavenged scrap during the day and survive by zombies" by night in that time? If I knew that even perhaps there was maybe an early announcement about Fortnite from 2009 (which is granting a bit more leeway than I should but trying to not close off any avenues).

Fortnite was first announced as a survival base-building game in 2011; it's not outside the realm of possibility because Epic went dark with Fortnite for a long time. It was actually first, and the Battle Royale mode was tacked on later after PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds exploded in popularity.

Best answer: This is maybe too obvious to mention, but Minecraft was first made public in 2009, and was later available on the Xbox 360.

After Minecraft, this style of base-building survival game was everywhere. Before Minecraft, not nearly so much...

Response by poster: OMG! That Fortnite is it! How is my google-fu failing, why is the 2011 thing so... buried on quick searches, even in Wikipedia no mention?
Hmm...

I'm not crazy! THANK YOU!
