Seeking beginner surf lesson recommendation (Los Angeles area)

I am looking to gift someone some surfing lessons for an adult beginner. She an catch an occasional wave, but can't stand up on the board. Has a board but probably been surfing something like 15 times in her life.

I think Santa Monica area would be ideal, but for a great company or individual instructor she'd go from northern OC to Malibu. If there's any companies that have great packages or prices, that would be great to know too. I know nothing about this stuff, so any information you provide will be useful to me. Thanks!

Groupon is what I use. Surf lessons are pretty expensive, so be sure to shop around some if you are able.
