BeautifulGameFilter - Regarding the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. What time of year will it be? Since it's the Southern Hemisphere will it be in Jan or Feb? Yes, I'm planning a trip.
The weather will also still be quite warm at that time of year, at least in the afternoons, even though it's technically winter, and most parts of the country (barring the Cape) will be free of rain.
Be warned, by the way, that public transport is pretty scarce, especially in Jo'burg/Tshwane. Buses are hit or miss (and don't run after 6pm), commuter trains aren't to be recommended (the crime rate is high) and most minibus taxis are deathtraps (I was nearly involved in an accident involving one a couple of weeks ago).
Also, the proposed 'Gautrain' linking Jo'burg and Pretoria hasn't even begun construction yet, and most don't expect it to be ready on time. So if you don't drive, you've got four years to get yourself a licence.
