A good source to hire great writers with deep technology experience?

I need to find alternatives to Upwork and similar sites to hire writers with good technology credentials.

I have a boutique agency which specializes in creating white papers, case studies, and technology briefs for technology companies, mostly XaaX and larger, enterprise software companies.

I occasionally find suitable, talented writers on Upwork (yes, the site does have SOME great talent) but not enough.

Can you suggest alternative venues to identify such freelancers? And, no, I'm not interested in working with larger agencies. If anything, they'd be clients occasionally, rather than providers.

Thanks in advance.

LinkedIn can be helpful for things like this.

I have sent you a PM as well. I am pretty sure there are a ton of writers on MetaFilter, and many of them have tech experience.

Best answer: Look on Twitter for professionals talking about those topics and blogging about them. Look at programs like Microsoft MVP and VMware vExpert (or from other vendors that service your space) that those kind of active professionals belong to. Look for online forums that discuss those topics and ask there. Many of those technologists, although well-paid, will do freelance blog posts & white papers for a little extra cash.

If they're just starting out, they may be better technologists than writers, but that's what editors are for, and they're trainable. And finally, look at trade journals for those topics and see who is writing freelance there -- vendors usually pay more than the trade journals at this point.

And as evidenced by pervious answers, I'd also definitely check out the MetaFilter angle!
