Backpacking near Denver or Boulder in November

Any suggestions on places near Denver or Boulder for a two-night backpacking trip in early November?
I'd like to go on a two-night backpacking trip in the next couple of weeks (weekends of November 1st or 8th). Anything within an hour's drive of Denver would be welcome, but I also work in Boulder - so I could take the bus out to, say, Nederland on a Friday night, camp near town, and then set out the next day. I'd like to cover more than a couple of miles and get some degree of isolation, but I doubt I could cover more than 8 miles comfortably in a day.
I'm definitely open to snowshoeing suggestions, too! I just don't know what to expect from the weather right now. I've done winter camping in deep snow and bitter cold in Iowa and Minnesota, but I duly fear the mountains.
Thanks!
