How do I make this thing?

I found a cool thing on Thingiverse: a playing field for the game Dominion. How can I make this thing? If it were 3D printing, I'd go to shapeways, but it's not. Where should I go online to have this made?

Best answer: ponoko.com, imo

Best answer: Those are the cutting templates under the main image, no? You could have a go out of cutting it with an Xacto knife and some 3mm foam board. Print out the template, glue it to the foam board, cut it out (carefully...Xacto blades are ruthless) and fit it together.

Response by poster: That's not a bad idea, jquinby. Right now I need to be able to open the files to begin with.

How can I open this file (DXF) and/or convert it to a filetype accepted by ponoko (SVG or EPS)? I'm on a mac, and so far all the programs I've found are for PC.

Best answer: You can open DXF files in Illustrator and save them as EPS. Maybe the open-source Inkscape will work too.

Response by poster: Cool. A kind mefite with a laser cutter has contacted me via memail, so I may not need to handle the files myself after all, but this is good information to have. Thanks, all!

It looks like you have it figured out, but I thought I should link to this individual:

https://boardcrafting.mycafecommerce.com/

It looks like he/she sells the files for the boards. I got inspired to make my own, but I admitted to myself that another started, but unfinished project was not a good idea.

I'm not tied to this person in anyway, but thought you may find some inspiration/resources there.

You could also have this cut out on a laser cutter. A local hackerspace would be a good bet for someone who could do that for you.

You live in NYC? There should be several options.
