Wikipedia – Experts getting bounced. Your experiences?

As Wikipedia fills up, genuine experts are becoming more significant but they’re finding unqualified Wiki Elves working against them. An expert having written a significant book and citing it, will often come back in the morning to find their edits erased on the spurious grounds that authors cannot offer their own original work – just because they’re also editors! However, those with no real knowledge are acting as judges.
Worse, areas have been infected by pseudo-scientific cults such as the cladists, who having secured a stranglehold on formal publication have now invaded Wikipedia and made sure no sense or even balance can be published there either.
Would any MFers who have seen Wikipedia principles being bent to negative ends, care to share their experiences?
