Seeking hypnotic music mix

Looking for an hour or longer album or mix of atmospheric music with hypnotic beats, slow or fast, doesn’t matter. The style can be anything, though preferably current, preferably instrumental, and preferably a little dark.

Have you checked out any of the "You are listening to . . ." group sites?

Their from a Mefi, and they get me through the day.

Chrissy Murderbot have you covered.

There's a lot of electronic music that fits this description. Do you have an example of something you already enjoy? Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works 85-92 (sample) fits this description. The Field's From Here We Go Sublime (sample) is probably my favorite zone-out-and-work album. I'll second Infected Mushroom's Classical Mushroom (sample), but it might be too loud for atmospheric music.

Bill Laswell is your man.

If stuff like this meets your criteria, you're in luck, in that those guys have made no fewer than 25 albums together. Most were short-run CD releases but many are also available on itunes.

This is basically my favorite kind of music to listen to. As said above, there's a broad range of music that could fit this. I'm excited to see others' answers, but here we go:

Cio D'Or and Donato Dozzy present J (a mix for Japan)
Deepchord Presents Echospace: Liumin (sample)
Kettenkarussell's ssg special
Felix K's ssg special
DDKH mix

Tin Man - Wasteland ("Wasteland" is one of my favorite songs ever)

Steve Reich's music is something that I've always considered very hypnotic. It's easy to see where electronic music came from by listening to his music. See "Come Out", Music for 18 Musicians

I would like to second Chrissy Murderbot. If you like techno, check out mnmlssg (which is where a few of the links above came from).

Maybe I'll be back with more later.

Not dark, but otherwise meeting your criteria: Dr. Toast and Beats Antique.

Response by poster: Thanks very much for the suggestions so far, I have lots to explore. I won't favourite any in particular, these are all new to me.

Maybe you can pick and choose stuff from The Sisters of Mercy, something like this, or this.
Maybe some Kraftwerk?

Response by poster: Absolutely loving TVO's ssg special (at least the first 10 minutes of it that I've heard thus far), thanks for the pointer to mnmlssg, azarbayejani.

Also, Classical Mushroom at a good volume made for an amazing commute to the office on this rainy morning.

Thank you again.

Do Make Say Think - their entire oeuvre is instrumental (except for a track or two). Anywhere from seven-to-nine piece band--always two drummers though, making for truly hypnotic beats. Their style runs the gamut from dark to sunshiny-happy.

Dark--Goodbye Enemy Airship the Landlord is Dead
On a happier note--You, You're a History in Rust

heavily Youtube-able, but I linked to the Constellation website because they always have excellent physical media packaging, and other bands on their roster might fit your bill. ;-)

here are some of my favorites: primarily ambient and electronic with a focus on beats

BT - This Binary Universe [this doesn't have consistent beats per se, but it's incredible.].

Aphex Twin - select ambient works 85-92
The Future Sound of London - Lifeforms - this is a classic. although it's from 1994, I think it would suit you well. It does not sound dated.

Any album by:
Boards of Canada (there's a few songs with lyrics in them)
Thievery Corporation
Blue States
Amon Tobin
Bonobo

Also check out the Ninja Tune record label.
