CLOAKS AND/OR PIGS

Photographer / book ID!

Was at the Strand a while back in the used/foreign books section, and I found a book (perfect bound, kraft-paper type cover, small square format, the usual thing for photo collections) by some Italian photographer.

I didn't jot down the name of the book or the guy's name, but now I'm wishing I had picked up the book... maybe you can help.

B&W photography, rural Italy, focusing on a community of peasants that work in the pig slaughter trade and with very smoky shots inside of an abbatoir, shots of old men with cloaks walking through valleys, etc. Emphasis throughout on CLOAKS and PIGS.

The book and photos were from the mid-80s as I recall. Maybe his first name was Antonio?

Pretty sure it was not Mario Giacomelli. Photography of abbatoirs in the countryside seems to be a recurring theme in Italian photog.

Help :(
