I want to be hairy Potter.

Where can I rent time on a potter's wheel in Los Angeles next week?

A few friends and I want to channel our inner Demi Moore and make clay vessels on potter's wheels. We don't want to take a class; we want to sit down and do our own thing without being under the watchful eye of an instructor (unless the instructor resembles Patrick Swayze c. 1990 and doffs his shirt to prevent stains). Thanks.

Best answer: There's a studio at about 3rd and Fairfax called Bitter Root that fits your desires.

There's also a potter's collective on the west side in Santa Monica in the 18th Street Arts Complex so look under that designation and you should be able to find.

Bitter Root is on Beverly Blvd. between La Brea and Fairfax. (I drive by it regularly.) Looking at their website, it doesn't say whether they'll just let you at a wheel or if you have to sign up for a class, but it does emphasize their laid-back, non-instructional atmosphere.
