Put the oomp back in my oomp pa pah. Need a reputable accordion repair shop in NYC..preferably Manhattan or Brooklyn.
So I bought this sweet early 1900s Hohner accordion at a flea market last year. Just got around to trying to teach myself how to play and I realized that many of the root note bass buttons stick. I figure the whole thing should probably get a tune up and a cleaning anyway. Recommendations for places that a noob won't get ripped off would be great.

I would go to Alex. I had Main Squeeze fix up an older accordion for me and got it back with some buttons still sticking -- he insisted that they would play out, which they never did, and I had to keep going back.
My old accordion teacher swore by Alex and the one time I needed a repair, they did an excellent job (and fixed it in a couple hours).
Unfortunately, any of these places will rip you off if they think they can. Talk to them about money first thing.
