Can you reccomend some shoes?

I'm in a shoe buying state of mind. Any personal favorites? I'd like to avoid the bigger brands and maybe find something different.

I'm a man with large feet, but if you've got an answer others might find useful, put in on in here.

I thought those Nike Free shoes were just a gimmick, but then I tried them on and my feet melted into two orgasmic pools of joy.

I have never had a more uncomforatable pair of shoes than the Columbia shoes I bought last month.

I'm a fan of Tsubo shoes. Comfy and funky.

I just bought a nice pair of sneakers from Vegan Essentials. They look pretty cool and feel pretty good (and sturdy).

BTW, they seem to run big. I bought a 12, but it seems like I could have gone for an 11 1/2 (which is surprising since I usually go for a 12 1/2).

I hate giving away my secret source of the coolest shoes, but what the hell. I'm a huge fan of John Fluevog's stylish, hip shoes.

I see they were mentioned in the previous shoe thread. Oh well :-)

Let me at least one voice of dissent on that one..

I like Keen sandals a lot.

Only the women's come in the cool colors, though.

My Onitsuka Tigers (Ultimate '81 LE) are the most comfortable shoes ever - I have narrow, size 12 feet, and these fit like... some sort of bizarre foot-glove. Very lightweight, too.

I had a pair of Cydwoq sandles that I couldn't break in. They destroyed my feet (and they aren't cheap). Ditto with Fluevogs. Maybe it's my feet, but those two brands were too much pain with very little pleasure.

I'm very much loving my new robin-egg blue Campers.

New Blackspot sneakers = designed by Fluevog.

I have a pair of the old ones, which are sorta uncomfortable. The tongue seems odd.

Go Fluevogs. Four pairs and counting.

In a similar vein to the Vegan Essentials post, I'd recommend Vegetarian Shoes - a treat for your feet if you don't eat meat :-)

Even if you're not veggies, there are plenty of other reasons to buy them. Mainly, they're probably the most ethically sound, environmentally friendly shoes you're likely to find (vegan and Blackspot sneakers being on a similar pegging).

And to pre-empt a few questions that I'm always asked.... No, they're not made of plastic. Yes, the material is breathable. No, my shoes don't eat meat, ha ha ha.

Vegetarian Shoes boots are indestructible. The pair on my feet right now have been going strong for three years; I've only needed to resole them. I had a pair of VS skate shoes that aren't quite as tough, though; they started falling apart after a year or two.

I will have to disagree with anyone recommending Nike Frees. Indeed, they're comfortable, but outside of that, they're crap. I've had 2 pairs (4.0 and 5.0) and they both fell apart or tore, literally, in weeks.

cmonkey and ajp, those VS, do they fit normal? I usually take a 42 (8.5) but in some shoes, particularly, Cydwoqs, I take a 41. ARe the VS brand normal fits?
