whoa, iWork and the headless mac were actually real!

IRC seems to be working best...

Mac Mini... $499 for a 1.5Ghz box that's roughly the size of five cd cases stacked on top of eachother, comes with OS X and iLife, and a nicer one for $599.

iWork is the new Office app.

All of the announcements seem to be shipping on 01/22/2005.

I'm sure all of this will get posted somewhere soon...

if one doesn't have a screen to use, does the IMAc Mini represent anything attractive price-wise?

I hereby nickname the iPod shuffle the iPon. Look at it and you'll see why.

Surely you already have a monitor sitting around the house, yes? I mean ... we're all geeks here, right?

Suddenly I understand why iBiz changed its name.

I currently have an iMac, so no, grabbingsand. Although, going modular might be attractive long-term.

With regard to iPods, does anyone here reckon there's a way for Apple to mess this up now?

It seems like they have all sides of the market tied up... the super duper big drives for the iPod Photo (which I'm convinced will become a video device eventually); the standard iPod model; the smaller, cheaper iPod mini and now this ultra-cheap toy for kids who want in on the iPod action but previously couldn't afford it.

All of these plug into the iTunes Store... and even if there are cleverer devices, it's becoming increasingly hard to suggest to any friend that they should buy any device _other_ than an iPod. It's becoming the de facto standard for music devices just as Windows PCs are in the computer world or the Walkman was for cassette players.

Opinions on this new device and Apple's dominance or otherwise of MP3 players....?

wait for the inevitable MeFi front page post. :)

This is an impressive new line up of goodies. I want a mini just so I can say I have one! And the shuffle is very cool too.

Apple continues to impress.

skylar, there's a reason its the head of the class, the iPod is a superior machine and the offshoots build on that class beating design. Why would you want anything else? Though I've little interest in the iPod Photo but when it goes full video, sure!

I now have Dell Buyer's remorse.

Paris: You can use almost any monitor with it, so you could get a second-hand one, for example, and do quite well.

Now I can cheaply replace my noisy, four year old pc. This is great.

Isn't 512MB RAM a little bit claustrophobic these days?

iPon... what the hell does that mean?

iPon... what the hell does that mean?

think of other words that end in -pon, and are small, and white, and have a thin cord attached to them...
