Response by poster: Long ago, I made a long list of resolutions (lose some weight, make more money, make new friends, yadda yadda). The resolutions would be history before the end of the year.

Recently I've made a single resolution (2004: climb 100K vertical feet while hiking) and kept to it.

This year I resolve to make a budget, and stick to it.

What are your resolutions for this year?

That's odd: I have resolved to do rock climbing in Wales and save enough to put a down payment on a house.

1) Be more of a negative role model

2) Get a job

3) Drink more vodka (dovetails nicely with resolution #1)

4) Learn how to cook better

5) Stay out of jail

I want to stop doing things I don't like to make the 'easy' money and only do what I enjoy for a living.

Be less dependent on others.
Finish writing a book AND submit it.
Work on figuring out who *I* am. [ that's a yearly venture]
Find a friend with benefits. [okay, okay I'm kidding on this one]
Make fewer lists that don't get completed. [not kidding]

Get my article published.
Quit my job.
Start a new job.
Start running. Again.
Spend more time with my wife.
Write more.
Procrastinate less.
Listen to more music.

My resolutions:

Lose weight even though I don't need to, just for the thrill of being REALLY skinny, even if only briefly

Run my first 5k in May.

1.) The obvious lose weight resolution.
2.) I want to stop letting events outside my control emotionally cripple me.
3.) And I want to start submitting quality Mefi posts.

Seriously, the last one will probably be the toughest.

1. Start keeping a diary.
2. Become a vegan.

The vegan thing'll never last, but I'm hoping to at least make it for a month.

Last night I dumped my entire stash of high grade Connecticut hydro down the toilet. I really regret doing that.
