I am looking for two children's books by the same author. One is about a carved wooden indian in a canoe that makes an amazing journey. The other is about a hermit crab as it makes its way through various new shells. My 3rd grade teacher read them to us, and I loved them, but I can't remember anything useful like author or title. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the wooden canoe story was called "Paddle to the Sea." I loved that, too. Thanks for reminding me of it!

The hermit crab one is Pagoo.

Just in case you don't notice on sid's link, but Paddle to the Sea is also a film. I loved it when I was a kid.

Response by poster: Perfect! Thanks so much for the help! I am excited to be able to 1) return these books to my own collection, and 2) to add them to the collections of others.

Eric Carle's A House for Hermit Crab may also fit the bill.

We used Pagoo when I was homeschooling my kids. All that guy's books were great for unit studies and such.
