Why is Albert Schweitzer considered to be historically important? What effect did he have on the world? What would the world be like now if Schweitzer had never existed?

This post was deleted for the following reason: More information about Albert Schweitzer if available on the Internet. It's not clear from your question what if any research you've done so far.

Given the relative ease of finding information about Schweitzer on the Internet, why is this an AskMe question?

This strikes me as a very vague question. There's a lot of material easily found online explaining Schweitzer's biography and philosophy. Is there something in particular you're wondering about?
