Please recommend the best books on Project Management that are NOT related to IT

I work for a small insurance company's claim department. I will be transitioning into Project Management and need recommendations on books and/or software, but they all seem to relate to IT or tech-type work.

My projects may cross paths with IT at some point but that's not the focus. I will need to learn to apply project management to the claim-based projects I'll be working on. All recommendations appreciated!

Are you looking at managing projects to optimize efficiency? From a scientific angle, any book on operations research should be of help.

For either airplane reading or general learning about managing people, resources, & information, you can't go wrong with Sun Tzu.
Cleary
and Wing translate pretty well. There are a lot to choose from. This Michaelson edition looks interesting. There are a lot of military metaphors, but mostly it boils down to strategies for getting what you want. Caution: please use your powers only for good.

You could try:

The Handbook of Project Management (Turner, 1999) - ISBN: 0077091612

The Commercial Project Manager (Turner, 1995) - ISBN:0077079469

Both useful and neither industry specific.
