On average, how many hours a day do you spend staring at a screen? Consider all sources: computer, TV, video games, movies, cell phone, blackberry, ATM, etc.

I'm at about 5.5 hours a day (which is way down from a few months ago).

8 (at work) + 3 (at home) = 11 hours per day.

I just got internet back after five months without it... During that disconnect, I'd only spend 1-2 hours on my machine on average. Adding in cellphones, ATMs, etc., I'd say perhaps 3 hours a day.

Now, with the internet back, it's probably up to around 5 hours.

Oh wait... are we counting video games? Push those numbers up another hour.

(Those are all averages. There're days when the only screen I use is on my cellphone to make a call or two.)

computer job plus dissertation writing plus watching tv to unwind = Thats nearly 99% of my waking time. The easier question is how many hours DONT i stare at a screen.

-shower and misc, occasional workout, occasional walk down broadway = 1 + 1 + 1 = 3.

So on a good day, during waking hours, I DONT watch a screen for about 3 hours. Keep in mind I dont go walking or go working out every day; maybe every other day.

At the moment I have an office job that's nothing but screen-staring, so that's 7 hours right there. Add in maybe three hours on the web when I get back, and that's 10. And then add TV... oh dear. Probably 12 overall. No wonder my head hurts.

8 At work and at least 2 at home ... so 10 a weekday, 2 on the weekends.
