Would the American economy collapse if, tomorrow, every American stopped using credit cards?

This is an impossible to answer question. Perhaps it'd be better to rephrase it in economic realities. Like what role and importance do credit cards play in the US? From there you can get a pretty good idea of that nature of credit companies instead of devolving into absurdities.

Sure.
I only use it now as a matter of convenience (paying for things online, large ticket items that I don't have the money for in the checking account, etc).
