Looking for a crossover comic strip

Did the comic strip characters drawn respectively by George Gately and Cathy Guisewite ever appear together in a crossover comic to parody a 19th century novel?

Best answer: Yes, you’re very clever. Consider whether you should make a #metafilterfundraiser2023 donation for such a chatty ask.

If there was an official Wuthering Heights crossover between Heathcliff and Cathy, I’d expect it to appear in the disturbingly comprehensive Fictional Crossover wiki entry for Heathcliff.

You might also try Just Two Things, which hasn’t been active lately, but has an extensive back catalog of lazy You Got Your X in my Y mashups.

I don't know if such a crossover has ever appeared, but in terms of the larger culture-soup, I once had a freshman college student write an essay on Wuthering Heights sincerely referring to Heathcliff as "Garfield" throughout his entire paper.
