Tattoo design approval; does this make me look like a baddie?
March 16, 2023 11:05 AM

So I've got a tattoo design which I'm considering. Does it remind you of anything, especially anything offensive?

It's a variation on The Hand Of Eris, basically I threw the simple design into an AI art thing and got a bunch of variations and I like this one. But I just want to check and see if it reminds anyone of some other symbol which I would want to avoid

Reminds me a bit of a fleur-de-lis.

I've always thought the Five-Fingered Hand of Eris' proximate symbol was chaos which I suspect you're okay with -- other than that, no associations I'm aware of fnord

It reminds me of Twilight Sparkle's cutie mark.

It puts me (very vaguely) in mind of the JRRT monogram.

I, a random internet person who has sometimes wondered if people's tattoos were hate symbols, wouldn't wonder that about your tattoo design.

Looking at that, I'd just think Art Nouveau. (Or maybe DLC for Cultist Simulator, but that's not a bad thing!)

Yeah, my immediate thought was, "Oooh, it's like a sigil made of two crescent moons. COOL."

I might wonder whether it was from a fantasy series I'm unfamiliar with, but no, it doesn't look like anything that would ring alarm bells for me.

It's pretty. Like a French bakeshop logo with champagne bubbles.

The interplay of curved and tapered lines is lovely. Because most skin is pre-decorated with randomly placed and sized dots, that part of the design reads as less intentional to me. If that's not your desire, perhaps arrange them more symmetrically?

It reminded me of an apple, or apple core fwiw!

It's vaguely similar to Veve, and or some alchemy symbols. But nothing that strikes me as a casual viewer as anything the least bit problematic

Looks completely inoffensive to me. Also, quite pretty.

To me it looks like it might be the logo of an inoffensive pop band or inoffensive pop musician.

I would assume it was an ornate Cyrillic letter ж (zhe)

I immediately thought of fancy dishware designs from the 40s/50s.
