Can anyone recommend a leukaemia charity you know and like?

I'd like to make a donation to a good leukaemia charity or research foundation of some sort. Is anyone familiar with one that does good work?

As above: someone I know very sadly passed away from leukaemia quite recently, and we'd like to make a donation in her name to a USA based charity doing good work in leukaemia treatment and/or research. St Jude's Hospital seems to come up on lists a lot but if possible I'd prefer to donate somewhere that focuses on leukaemia specifically. Does anyone know of a foundation or center that does good work?

I have heard good things about the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, but they also do work with other blood cancers. I have a related blood cancer and was advised to contact them when I was looking for support groups. They also help patients navigate financial issues with cancer treatment, which you probably know is huge. They have programs to support research as well.

Best answer: As a cancer researcher who sometimes works on leukemia, I would suggest the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. They have a legitimate competitive research grant program, and supporting that would be one of the best ways of making a donation where it is most needed in leukemia research. (For the record, I have never applied for or received an LLS grant but they seem to me to have good programs.)

My dad received like eight thousand dollars worth of immunotherapy from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He was surprised how very fast and easy they made it for him to get that help.

I study cancer genomics and leukemia and have worked on research projects receiving LLS funds. I don't know much about their internals, but can vouch for them giving money to people working hard to find better treatments.
