Gmail not receiving emails after downloading a virus

So. I downloaded a questionable file and now I can't receive emails. Explanation inside.

I should really know better. But I downloaded a questionable file which contained a virus, which led to someone getting into my computer (and amazon account, luckily I was able to report the purchase as fraudulent and cancel my card). They proceeded to flood my gmail inbox with spam (mostly newsletter signups in various languages), hoping to conceal the amazon purchase confirmation message. I changed all my passwords immediately and setup 2-factor where it wasn't already setup.

The problem now is, I can't receive any legitimate emails. (Have sent several test emails, none of which made it through). They're not going to my spam or trash, they're just not there. I've checked my filters, none are new. There's no forwarding setup. Could my inbox just be flooded from all the spam? I've marked all the spam emails as such, and told gmail to unsubscribe.

Is there anything else I can do other than wait? I don't really want to nuke this email address, but will if I have to.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Look for any rules or filters in your gmail -- use the web interface, look under settings / filters and settings / forwarding...

Sometimes, the very first thing that happens when someone takes over a gmail account is they write a rule to delete or filter any incoming e-mail -- so that the victim can't be notified that they've been hacked.

Sorry -- didn't see that you've already checked this...

When you're sending the test mails, are you sending them from the same Gmail account you're expecting to receive them at? Because if you are, I don't think you'll ever see them come in. Last time I looked, Gmail doesn't actually do self-sends; it just shoves the sent mail in Sent and All Mail and says Job Done.

Response by poster: No, sending the test emails from a different address

Turn off imap and pop.

Download your filters and then delete them all from the account. (I know you checked, but belt and suspenders.)

Try sending test emails from different services such as gmail, yahoo or another domain. Try sending email from that address to an outside email. Does that work?
