Is my power adapter extension cable compatible with new laptop?

I bought a new power cable with an extension cable for my 2013 Macbook Pro last July. I ended up getting a new Macbook Pro laptop last week, and they don't come with the extension cable anymore, it seems. I really like that extra length. Before I buy a new one, is there any reason why I can't use the one I already have?

I couldn't find the info online anywhere. Let me know if you need any more details about either computer's specs.

Best answer: The extensions and wall plug adapters are standard across both old and new Macbook Pro adapters - you can definitely swap them.

Best answer: You’re talking about this thing, right? It should work just fine. Hell, I’m using the extension cable from my 2006 original MacBook adapter still, with a power adapter on a 2018 MacBook. I’m glad Apple has stuck with this design for 10+ years!

Best answer: Yeah, the important bits are in the white brick. You might not want to use an old brick on a new computer (you probably won't be able to since Apple loves to change that design) but the extension cable is basically just an extension cord.

Best answer: Yup, we do this at work and it's fine.

Response by poster: Awesome, thanks all! I figured as much, but thought I'd ask out of an abundance of caution.
