What have you learned about yourself from being a parent?

Prompted by a recent realization that I'm a major hippie and really just want to snuggle my baby in wildflower meadows and forests and dance around singing James Taylor and Grateful Dead to the wee one, I'm wondering what revelations parenthood has brought you about yourself. Lighthearted or more serious ones are welcome, and would be curious to know the age/stage of parenting at which you came to such realization(s).
