Chicken Husbandry In Los Angeles

I am a caretaker on a friends property. She is putting in beehives and a chicken coop. While I was raised on a dairy farm, I know little about chicken care. I prefer learning hands on. Does anyone know of any classes in the Los Angeles/Pasadena area. If not, online suggestion appreciated.
Best answer: There is,a pretty helpful website, BackyardChickens.com that has good articles, forums, and members who answer questions.

According to this LA Times article you may be interested in checking out Heritage Goods & Supply in Carpenteria. In addition to selling goods they also host a bunch of classes on homesteading. They also run a related blog. Here is their article on raising chickens.

I feel like everyone in Altadena has a coop, or has a goat, or horses. Gardens.
While you are there, seek instruction from Klausesbees.
