How can I Hang with my Friend?

I recently read the sad announcement that Zynga's Hanging with Friends is being discontinued at the end of March. What can my friend and I play instead?

We have been playing this game continuously since I got an iPhone in 2012. Here's what I like about it:
-It's simple
-I can complete my turn in one or two minutes
-I can wait indefinitely to take my turn if I'm busy (though I rarely take more than a full day)
-It's quiet
-I can earn bonuses (coins in this case) to use for hints or other help (buying or trading letters in this case)
-We challenge each other rather than play the same challenge and compare scores (a la Ruzzle)
-It has an in-game chat feature

Do you know of any two-person apps that would fit the bill? I'm willing to pay a little for the right game.

Best answer: Words With Friends is basically Scrabble with all the same features.

I used to love playing W.E.L.D.E.R.
I think it's (still) two-player on iOS. but not on Android, which is why I stopped playing it when I got my first Android device - the single-player modes aren't as much fun.

Anyway, you can complete turns at your leisure, and there are various 'power-ups' that you can use strategically during the game. There's an in-game chat feature too, if I remember rightly.

The interface is an acquired taste, but I can remember enjoying it far more than Words With Friends or Hanging.

My daughter and her boyfriend have been playing 8 Ball recently and they love it.

Best answer: Seconding Words with Friends. You can take a day or two to take your turn, though it will kick you off if you take too long (maybe a week?). It has chat and all the other features you requested. It helps if you're both about the same level of playing, but it's not a big deal who wins or loses. I feel more connected to those I play with.

Free game. Register through Facebook or independently. On the app store, you'll see it as Words With Friends 2 (it's the newer version).

This won't help you and your friend, but "Clash Royale" isn't great for you (it's a live game, not turn based) but for a free game, it's one of the good ones.

It's not pay to win, it's relatively addictive, and a skilled player can really destroy an unskilled player, even if the unskilled player has paid money or built up stronger troops.

I probably put 200 hours in the last 400 hours in the last two months. I'm about through with it.

Thought I'd give the quick recommendation!
