Filemaker Pro Database error when performing "Find" with checkboxes

I am having an issue with Filemaker Pro 11 Advanced (Win 10 laptop). I have a simple flat database with fields like item code names, line drawings of each item, and checkboxes for item colors, etc. When I want to perform a find of all the items with a certain color, the result includes items that are *not* checked, as well as checked ones.
I haven't used Filemaker in a few years and I have a very tenuous idea of what I am doing, but have never had this issue before. This database was first copied from a half-completed database I'd created a few months ago (now trashed). I've since revised the layouts quite a bit and added a lot more info/records.
The "Color" field is a value list in a checkbox format and I have revised as I added more colors. The problem only occurs with the original color names that were carried over from the previous database. When I look at a single record, the colors checked are correct. But when I perform a find, I get more records than I should. I get many items which are unchecked for that color. It's possible that in the previous database, that a particular item did come in [the color I am performing the find for] but now it does not.
I've opened and closed FMP a few times. I did a Save > Recover and then Save as a Compacted File to try to re-Index, both times it said there was nothing wrong and the recovered Db still had the problem. I've not had any crashes, there are no scripts, I'm the only one using it (on my laptop, not on a server), it's not a huge Db, 58 records, but it is 74 MB due to the .eps line drawings. At this point it's probably faster to delete the wonky records and recreate them but...
Ghost checking. Can anyone explain?
