Did Mo Rocca really say that?

Watching the parade now on TV and I have a memory of Mo Rocca participating in the TV coverage of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade once in the 90s or 00s. He was talking to some kids on the street along the parade route. He said something to them like "So how about those smallpox blankets, kids?" and then the camera cut away. Wait, really?

I think this was in the late 90s or early 00s. I was just telling someone in my family about it and went to look for evidence online, which doesn't exist. Does anyone else have this memory? Did I imagine this? Help!

Possible lead: Rocca was one of the commentators on VH1's 2005 spinoff series "I Love the Holidays", which discussed the parade in at least one episode. I can't find any episodes online though.

Could it have been while he was a Daily Show correspondent?

In my memory of this thing happening, it was during the normal broadcast of the Macy's parade. I swear I'm not trying to troll anybody's holiday, I really do remember this!

I think Mo Rocca has some association with CBS. I've seen him randomly appear on shows like Sunday Morning. So perhaps it was the parade that CBS runs? I think NBC does Macy's and CBS shows one from another city.

Hm, there's this video about Columbus Day from CBS Sunday Morning? It doesn't seem like quite what you're asking about though, but maybe?
