Marketing Filter Along the lines of the Donald Trump phenomenon, what other instances of such narrowcast marketing are there?

This kind of marketing or advertising successfully targets a relatively specific demographic, even though it alienates and repels everyone else. To this demographic, the ploy or product is credible; to all else, it appears to be (and may actually be) a scam or bogus. In fact, the reaction of everybody else is part of the marketing ploy, confirming the loyalties of the targeted demographic.

Examples:
E-mail spam (e.g., 419 scams, royalty in exile)
Pharma advertising (U.S.)
Fast fashion (teens vs. parents)
Music that causes a moral panic (e.g., rap in the 1990s)
Conspiracy theories

To avoid a threadfight and summoning the mods, please discuss any examples in objective terms rather than by taking sides.

Howard Stern (to paraphrase him, his haters listen to him for twice as long as his fans - to hear what he'll say next)

Nickelback (I don't know anyone who doesn't "hate" them, but they sure sold a lot of music and concert tickets)
