Former new parents, lend me your anecdata!

Little dissolvedbaby is four months old today. He is my first child after two failed pregnancies, and he turned out really perfect! I am very happy to be a mom... but at the same time I am surprised how difficult it has been to transition to being a parent instead of just a person, even though I studied a lot to prepare and wanted this for years. I am wondering how often other people felt in a similar way and what their experience was like.

I have several sisters who are moms and they always give me the impression that they fell in love with their babies from the first moment of life and were just immediately bestowed with energy and drive to be a wonderful parent. I am getting there, but it's certainly been a tough learning curve and I still pretty much feel like I have no idea what I'm doing.

I'm back at work full time, if that's relevant. My husband and I work opposite four day schedules and the two grandmas switch off watching him on Sundays. I'm also taking an antidepressant, mostly just to be proactive because of family and personal history.
