Wife cannot have kids so why not polygamy?

I have been married for about four years with a lot of up and downs. My wife cannot have kids but she is very resistant to polygamy idea. Also, I wonder why women are so not understanding in these situations?

I have been married for about 4 years. My family opposed this marriage because of older ager of my wife (she was 34 at the time of marriage) and fearing she cannot have baby but I did it anyway out of blind love. Well, it turned out that my family was right. we did fertility treatment (IVF) for 3 times and both of us gave up (my sperms are Ok). Once, my wife asked what to do next and I brought a polygamy option if she accepts but she became outraged and got very upset and then I backed away. I don't want to leave my wife because she cannot have kids. Also, adoption is not a very attractive option as well. To me, polygamy provides a realistic solution and I wonder why women are so opposed to the idea? It's not like I just want to be with another woman for fun of it but it's more out of necessity. what should I do if I want to have my own kid naturally without going through the hassle of other options without breaking my marriage?
