What are your "one that got away" stories and how did it end up?

What is your story and how do you feel about it now?
I met a guy through a close mutual friend about 5 months before he was due to move many hours away to study in another country. Talk about bad timing! During this period though, we'd stay up 'til all hours discussing hopes and dreams and both got jealous when people of the opposite sex would get close to the other. In the end, we spent a lot of time kissing and were never able to consummate things. He was sad when I decided to start dating a guy who would become a long-term bf of two years but I had no choice but to move on considering he was leaving.
That was about 4/5 years ago and over the Christmas break I was out with friends when someone tapped me on the shoulder and low and behold - it was him! I was so happy to see him. The chemistry was just as strong as ever and we spent the evening close to each other like magnets. When I was mingling and talking to other people, his eyes were still on me (and vice versa). At the end of the night, he pulled me close (which felt completely natural) and we shared a romantic kiss. He said he's considering whether to move home, but is at a bit of a crossroads in his life. So who knows when/if we'll see each other again!
What is your story? What obstacles stopped you from being together? Do you have any regrets about it now or can you now look back on it wistfully/with a smile?
