What should I do to mitigate my situation for a hit and run?

I was in a hit and run in Seattle yesterday with my child. We are from Canada and not sure what steps to take.
I was in a hit and run in Seattle yesterday. I got the alleged license plate. The police confirmed the plate and some other info, which I won't share here. I called my insurance company.
Is there anything I should do to mitigate my liability? I posted an ad in Mefi Jobs to see if someone can help me put up some posters to look for witnesses. My mirror is damaged so I don't really want to drive around that intersection and I have no idea where to get tape or anything.
My insurer is government-owned and, well, I just want to make sure I took all the steps I could. I'm with my child, who's shaken up. We didn't get to do anything yesterday because of the accident and so I would just like to take him to do a promised activity and head back home to BC before we lose the whole weekend (it's not a long weekend for us). I'm sore.
Traffic was moving and nobody else stopped. I was there for an hour. If there were witnesses, I don't think they stayed or noticed. Is there anything else I should reasonably do? Again, there is no competition for insurers in BC, so I need to make sure I do everything right.
I confirmed that we can see the doctor on Monday, since it is the weekend. The insurer said not to tie up our weekend with travel insurance claims.
Is there anything else I should reasonably do? I just want to go home but I don't want to miss anything. The police officer was very kind and told me how to get a report. I'm just still a bit stunned and honestly feel so disoriented without having a phone. :)
Thank you so much.

After any accident, I take a bunch of photos to document the damage or points of impact, and I will write down the details of what happened so I don't forget. As for this being a hit-and-run, I agree you should ask your insurance company what else would be helpful, and you could maybe ask the police if there's anything else you can do beyond providing the license plate number you got.

Response by poster: Thanks. As this is government insurer, sometimes they don't tell you everything up front.

BCLiving suggests consulting a lawyer:

Most car accident lawyers will provide a free consultation. The time after a car accident can be stressful and overwhelming. By talking to some car accident lawyers about your rights, you can be more confident that you’ll make decisions that best reflect your needs and ensure that your rights will be respected. After all, if you or someone else was hurt in a car accident, it’s a personal injury case. The King County Bar Association offers a lawyer referral service by telephone and online:
There is a $45 administrative fee. This fee includes a 30-minute consultation with your attorney. If the first attorney does not work out, just call us back. We are able to provide up to 3 referrals. It’s very important to find the right fit with the right lawyer. While it sounds like you would benefit from advice from a Canadian lawyer about your insurance claim, an attorney licensed in Washington can likely advise you on whether you have a claim against the other driver and how to collect evidence [Avvo]. General information about finding an attorney is available at the MeFi Wiki Get a lawyer page.
