Love-Hate Relationship with SF

Who else has left San Francisco and why? And please tell me more? Where did you go? What were your feelings about leaving? What would you say to someone like me who feels they are fleeing SF because it is hard to live here?
I moved to the SF bay area in 2010. It has been a lifetime dream to move here from various parts of the USA. I am a single, middle aged woman and have done several cross country moves, so this question/concern is not really about moving in general, but moving away from SF bay area in particular.
Ever since I have been in SF, I have found it to be both wonderful and a hardship at the same time. I don't need to go on about all the wonderful sides to living in SF, they are numerous. But the payoff for being here has not seemed to outweigh the benefits. After trying for 5 years, I am finally throwing in the towel and moving to San Diego for a short term 4 month job. I may return to SF, not sure yet. But the problems in SF for me have been: very congested as I feel like we are living on top of each other, very expensive as I pay 2K for a run down 1 bedroom in a suburb of SF, housing seems to be getting more expensive and difficult to find, aggressive traffic as I feel i take my life in my hands everyday I drive, cost of living so high that I feel like I am working too much just to pay the rent and parking and transportation, so I can't even take off time to enjoy the area as well as I can never buy a house here or even make much headway on savings.
Any input from others experienced with living in and/or leaving SF bay is wanted. If you have never lived in SF bay area, then thank you for your interest but please do not respond to this post. Thanks again.
