Why do I hate McSweeney's?

Any time I see a link to it, I'm just like, UUUUUGGGH.
It's like McSweeney's raison d'etre is to be clever (maaaaybe witty?) without actually making me laugh, and WITH actually making me mad. But I'm unable to describe why.
Can you all help by describing their style?
Or do you know why people find them tiresome?
Or why people love them?
I just... haven't figured out how to rationally object to McSweeney's, but I emotionally object, and I want to be able to understand why.
For the record, I have always liked this list. YAY!
