Gay research paper, ego syntonic/ego dystonic, avowal/disavowal
November 28, 2014 6:30 PM
Trying to track down a research paper involving homosexuality and identity. Or something.
I remember it going something like this:
A) John is gay and he is true to himself by engaging in physical and emotional same-sex relationships.
B) John is gay and he is true to himself by not engaging in physical and emotional same-sex relationships.
I'm pretty sure this was some sort of empirical research paper making some conclusion about how ego syntonic behaviors are viewed or something like that. Like, resisting or following impulses can both be seen as both ego syntonic and ego dystonic. And this might have been a study on people's attitudes when presented with both (A) and (B).
Does this ring a bell for anyone?? I'm dying to get my hands on this paper. Is there another good place where I could ask this?

Many university library websites can get you a decent distance into locating this info. Even better if you live near one and can walk in and talk to a research librarian

I have academic access and a lot of experience hunting for papers (synonyms, boolean algebra) and I'm still coming up short. (Not my field, though, which is why I'm asking wider.)
