Passionate men and attractiveness

I recently realized (at the age of 30...doh!) how attractive it is to a woman when a man achieves mastery of a particular interest/hobby. Of course for a woman to be attracted to a man's mastery of a particular interest/hobby, she has to have some interest in the subject. Also, the man has to figure out a way to involve the woman in his subject of interest.

Which brings me to the questions at hand...

Ladies, what's hobbies/passions do you find most attractive in men? Is it less attractive to you if a man recently discovered his passion as opposed to a man who discovered his passion much earlier in life?

Men, did you cultivate a passion later in life? Did it make you more confident and increase your attractiveness to women?

I was inspired to pose these questions after reading the following article. I found it fascinating.

I'm a 30 year-old late bloomer male who recently got his heart broken. I want to cultivate my own passions, increase my self-confidence, and make my self more attractive. In particular, I'd like to learn how to cook, play the guitar, and tell a lot of really funny jokes. I like to sing, I like to laugh, and I like to eat. :-)
