What is your favorite deep, elegant, or beautiful explanation, in science, history, or other fields of life?
I’m stealing this question from Edge.org’s excellent Annual Question, which asks this question to scientists, professors, and whatnot. Responses range from evolution (naturally), to pattern recognition, to Freud's unconscious.
So MetaFilter: what is your favorite deep, elegant, or beautiful explanation—not just in science but in all parts of life? Curious to hear what normal people think. (If you can call MeFi users normal.)
