Sending an email to your future self

Remember this? You could send an email to your future self. I believe I did it at the time and set it for 10 years, which would have been 2013, but I never got anything. My guess is that it went into my email's spamfilter. Did anyone get theirs? Did it move you, or change you, or did anything substantive happen because of it? I know mine mentioned a couple of goals, and I have accomplished some of those goals. It would have been nice to get the actual email from past me though.

A friend of mine and I both used this on and off for the past ten years. We got most if not all the emails we sent to our future selves - can't say I remember for sure how many I sent. I also think we typically sent them 1 to 2 years in the future, not the full 10. Some of the emails may have been a factor in convincing me to take a year off work and travel the world - I remember I would always exhort myself to go ahead and do it. But I don't think they had much of an impact on either of us - more a fun curiosity to see what we had wanted for ourselves (sometimes with almost over the top sincerity) and what had actually eventuated in our lives. Typically when we received a FutureMe email, we'd go on and write another one so the process would continue year after year, but at some point we stopped doing so. But who knows? Maybe I did send one 10 years into the future and it'll be appearing in my email in about another year...

I never got mine either (set it for 2010) but I did manage to accomplish my goal during 2010. Would have liked to see it though.

As I was getting myself out of a really bad life situation, I sent myself one, dated a year in the future. Totally forgot I'd done so, until I got it. It was a nice reminder to think about how much better my life was going (though I never forget), and to appreciate the friends who'd helped me during that awful time.
