Looking to know the impact as student (positive or negative) you or someone you know had for attending a special education school due to an emotional or behavioral disorder such as depression.

Experience from teachers and administrative staff on how this kind of education impact students are also welcome.

What kind of "Special Education School" are you talking about?

A student with a behavioral problem is usually assessed by the district and then given an Individual Education Plan. The student, parents and teacher should all know about it and it's a good idea for everyone to have a brief meeting to discuss it, and be sure that everyone understands the expectations. (I hate to tell you how many teachers don't even bother to read them.)

How do the behavioral problems manifest themselves? Not doing classwork, disruptions, truancy?

Each child is different, each situation is different. You really need to be specific here.

If you're talking about admitting a kid into a residential program, thing long and hard about it. Some of those places are warehouses for kids who are just unmanageable and it's pretty much the last thing a depressed kid needs.
