Advice, Change, Decisions

If you were to sum up what life is about in a short paragraph, what would you say that it is? We make certain decisions with the best of our knowledge and often times come up short. Why is it that some people struggle with so many things? Is it because they don't do what is asked of them? Is it because they react to things rather than acting? If you were in a situation that you knew that you had royally screwed up, how do you deal with that? Even having a degree in counseling psychology has left me with more questions than I have answers. I have been under the illusion that the more studying you do the smarter you get and this does not really work out so well. The truth is that I don't know anything other than life experience, social skills, and knowing when to keep your mouth shut as things that make you smarter. Any advice or brutal honesty would be greatly appreciated.
